2015 in Review

What a year! It’s hard to believe that 2015 is over. It seemed to go on forever, I actually forgot many things that happened throughout the year, but it also seemed to fly by so quickly! This year was filled with many ups and downs, but when it’s all said and done, I couldn’t have asked for a better year, filled with so much love! It will certainly be a year I won’t forget, but I’m most definitely looking forward to 2016!

It was a crazy, busy year, mostly filled with planning for the wedding. Running took a back seat, but in the end, it turned out ok. I was still able to run some races, do some traveling and spent time with family and friends. I didn’t meet too many of the goals I set out for myself this year, but there’s always next year!

Goodbye 2015, I’m ready for 2016!

2014 in Review

It’s the last day of 2014 and I’m a little sad to see this year go. It was a fantastic year that went by too quickly, and so many great things happened. Let’s take a look back to see what happened this year.

  • I ran 22 races: eight 5ks, one 5miler, two 10ks, two 15ks, two 10 milers, six half marathons, and one marathon
  • I traveled: Chicago, Vegas, Dallas, Detroit, Toronto, St. Louis, San Francisco, Napa, Corning
  • I PR’d in the 5k, 15k, 10 miler, half marathon and marathon
  • I started trail racing more consistently
  • I hit my highest mileage month of 112 miles
  • I became a member of the Oiselle Flock
  • We got engaged!
  • I ran my second marathon and PR’d by 21 minutes!
  • We welcomed our nephew Vincent into the family

And here’s a look back at the goals I set for  2014.

Running:

  • Break 2:00 in the half marathon-Cleveland Half, 1:58!
  • Break 24:30 in the 5k- Nope, but I did get a post college 5k PR!
  • Raise $1,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation-Far from this goal, but I did raise $300
  • Volunteer for a race– Helped with Medina Half Marathon prep
  • PR in all distances– Just about, PR in post college 5k, 15k, 10 miler, half marathon, and marathon!
  • Run at least 6 half marathons– 6 on the dot!
  • Run 600 miles– 872 miles!

Personal:

  • Try at least 15 new recipes- not even close
  • Plan a vacation for somewhere new-San Francisco and Napa!
  • Achieve and maintain a healthy weight-done!
  • Read at least 10 books – Just 3
  • Donate 1/4 of my clothes– Box is ready to be donated
  • Try something completely out of my element– I finally started lifting
  • Bike at least 20 miles a month- major fail
  • Get back into yoga– most of the year, ready to begin again on January 5th!

Blogging:

  • Own my own domain – done
  • Blog at least 3 times a week– most of the year, yes
  • Update the blog layout – yep!
  • Use a blog calendar– yep, and it helped a ton!
What a year!

What a year!

Did you accomplish your goals in 2014? What was your favorite thing from 2014?

2013 in Review

Finally, 2013 is coming to an end. It’s wasn’t a terrible year, but I never really got too excited about it. However, there were plenty of great things that happened in the past 365 days. Here’s a look at 2013.

  • I ran 12 races: five half marathons, one 10k and six 5ks
  • I traveled: Vegas, Toronto x2, Dallas (Work) & Austin, Colorado (Vacations)
  • I ran the 3M Half Marathon and knocked Texas off my list
  • I met Melissa and Paula
  • I PR’d in the 5k
  • I traded in my Mazda3 and upgraded to the VW Tiguan, hello AWD
  • I ran my first trail race, the Yeti! Set Go 10k
  • I joined a new running group, Medina Country Road Runners
  • I was part of two weddings, Congrats again Elayna & Nicole!
  • I gave my dad a surprise 60th birthday party
  • We bought a house!

And of course 2013 had plenty of goals and plans that I set out to accomplish, so let’s take a look at how those turned out.

2013 Goals

Running:

  • Run a sub 2:00 half marathon –Stuck at 2:05
  • Run 800 miles –Not even close, but at least I made it over half way at 435
  • PR in the 5kPR’d on my home turf at the Sole to Soul 5k
  • Run two half marathons in two new states – I knocked Texas off my list, so I’m 1/2 on this one
  • Volunteer at racesI joined the Medina Half Marathon committee, so that counts right?

Personal

  • Travel –I traveled a lot for work: Vegas, Dallas, Toronto x2, but we also took some trips for fun: Colorado & Austin
  • Learn German – I really need to learn German still
  • Learn to cook and eat healthierI tried some new and healthy recipes this year, not many, but it’s a start
  • Stress less – Oh, this was a silly goal, that definitely won’t happen
  • Read more, at least 10 books – Four books, and definitely not enough, I’ll be trying this again.
  • Cut out unnecessary purchases – I’d say I did this for most of the year, and then I got a new car, and a house, and some really cute clothes….

What did you do in 2013? What was your favorite memory? Did you accomplish all of your goals?
